Free HAT mock tests: prepare, attempt and review

A mock is a rehearsal and a source of feedback. Its value comes from what you learn about your methods, accuracy and use of time.

Choose your stream

Select the stream required by your admission or scholarship notice. HATprep offers a first mock for each of its five streams. The app’s full mocks use 100 questions and a 120-minute timer; always check the current official instructions for your actual examination.

Only have a few minutes? Begin with the 15-minute diagnostic. It samples the three reasoning areas equally and recommends starting lessons. It is not a replacement for a full stream-specific mock.

Before you start

  • Choose an uninterrupted session and prepare your workspace.
  • Read the mock’s instructions and use only the aids permitted for the exercise.
  • Make sure the chosen stream is correct before starting.
  • Plan a separate review period; finishing the timer is only half the work.

During the mock

Read what is being asked before calculating. If an item is taking disproportionate time, flag it and move on when the interface allows. Return with a fresh view rather than repeatedly applying the same unsuccessful method. Follow the published marking instructions for your actual exam when deciding how to handle unanswered questions.

The app’s timed sessions continue against their deadline when you leave the page. Returning to a session does not grant extra time. Check the interface’s resume message if you have an existing attempt.

After the mock

ObservationUseful action
Correct but guessedExplain the solution and eliminate the alternatives.
Wrong methodRevisit the relevant lesson and solve a fresh example.
Arithmetic slipAdd an estimate, unit check or substitution step.
Ran out of timePractise a small timed set and review which questions deserved an early skip.
Ambiguous recalled wordingRecord the exact concern and request a review of the item.

Compare useful evidence

Track section accuracy and recurring error types across different mocks. Repeating the same paper can improve your score through memory, so a fresh set is better evidence of transfer. Practice scores do not establish a guaranteed official score, percentile or scholarship outcome.

Mock 1 is available on the Free plan. Check current plan details for Mocks 2 and 3. Use the 30-day framework to schedule attempts and review days.
